Optimizing Images for Web

Although it is not absolutely required, some image preparation is a good rule of thumb before uploading images to the Editor. It is always best to start out with a web-optimized image.

How to resize photos and save for web using pixlr.com/express

Open your preferred internet browser (Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc)

Type http://www.pixlr.com/express into your browser window

Click on “Browse”

You will be prompted to navigate to the photo you wish to resize. Click “Open” once you’ve done so

Now that the file is uploaded into the browser:

• Click on “Adjustments”
• Click on “Resize”

Make sure “Keep Proportions” is checked

Change the dimensions of the final image

Click “Apply” when you are finished

Click “Save” at the top right

Rename the new image. Change the quality to ensure the image is under 2MB

When you are finished click “Save”

“Rename” the image or “Save” the image in desired area
